Fraser Coast
The Fraser Coast region is one of the most accessible holiday playgrounds in Queensland, surrounded by nature, long sandy beaches, world-heritage listed island retreats, abundant marine life, pristine parks and heritage-rich hinterland towns.
Located only three hours from the major cities in South-East Queensland, the region includes the areas of K’gari-Fraser Island, Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Tiaro and the Great Sandy Strait. The region is famous for whale watching and was recently declared the world’s first Whale Heritage Site. A year-round mild climate between 10°C and 30°C make it an ideal coastal destination.
Fraser Coast Tourism & Events Ltd. (FCTE) is the region’s peak body for regional marketing, event and tourism development.
The Fraser Coast region’s Hero Experiences have been developed to deliver the region’s long-term tourism vision and brand promise. The hero experience themes are:
- Fraser Coast
- whale watching
- reef and wreck diving (ex-HMAS Tobruk)
- heritage and military history.
